About
Katrina Alexander Jewellery
Our story
After a long career in corporate events and consulting, and becoming more and more aware of the need for sustainability, in 2008 Katrina embarked on her dream career as a jeweller and set up Katrina Alexander Jewellery. This dramatic shift in lifestyle enabled Katrina to value and appreciate every aspect of her creative life. She is dedicated to her craft and savours each part of the design and making process: from the careful carving of the initial wax shapes using the ancient art of lost-wax casting, to the sanding and polishing of the finished pieces. Every stage of design and (small scale) production is thoughtfully carried out to ensure each pendant, bangle and ring is made to an extremely high standard.
Brighton and Hove based, Katrina Alexander produces Award Winning British contemporary silver jewellery collections with exceptional skill and a striking, simple style. Finding the inspiration for her work in random, often innocuous, things is perhaps not an obvious route to a jewellery collection, however, it's not the ordinary that excites Katrina, but the fact that "I see shapes in everything" which ignites the ideas for her silver creations. Collections can take anything from a few weeks to years to come to fruition, with ideas and pieces evolving.
With a design career that is well and truly in full swing, Katrina likes to grow and develop her work at a natural, measured pace. Keep an eye on her journey - and her collections - to see how her inspiration from the ordinary evolves into the extraordinary.
Katrina's commitment to her work and her determination to produce outstanding jewellery collections is apparent in the classic, honest style of her silver pieces. There is a pureness and boldness in the shapes of her 'Infinity' signature pieces: smooth, tactile, solid... they are beautiful by design and satisfying to wear. There is somehow an intrinsic, added value in buying and wearing a piece of jewellery that has been so well thought out and so superbly made. Jewellery such as this, made with consideration and skill from a seed of personal inspiration adds a truly meaningful aspect to wearing one of Katrina's designs. Inspired by the shapes and forms of everyday, simple objects, Katrina’s designs become beautiful, flowing pieces that are bold and solid, smooth and tactile. Their outlines are soft and curvy – no jagged edges here to catch and snag – making the Infinity collection both striking and easy to wear. Pieces are designed to be collectables.
"Jewellery has always played a large part in my life and I have always loved the
history of storytelling through jewellery.
As a child I was always fascinated by my grandmother and mother's jewels, and
as an adult I have always felt undressed without my jewellery.
To me a piece of jewellery can provide comfort, make you smile, give you confidence or simply delight you;
it becomes a part of you."

"I like Katrina's work for its strong, distinctive flowing lines and very organic, sculptural feel achieved through the technique of lost wax carving. Her work makes a statement in a very simple, but effective way. It also has a very contemporary feel to it and I particularly like her groupings of silver elements which add movement and additional interest. Importantly, it looks very wearable."Press
